I couldn’t believe it this weekend when I received a Bloomingdale’s mailer already promoting their after-Christmas pricing! I couldn’t believe that they would reveal the discounts NOW…What more incentive does one need to save their dough and not shop until after the 25th?
The way I see it, if you have the cash handy, you can get incredible deals on some of the hottest wedding items that are never on sale when listed on a regular registry — plus I’m sure there are coupons to be had to bring these prices down even more!
One of the most coveted bridal items, the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer, which typically retails for close to $300, will be selling for under $200 with a FREE gift!
Any kitchen connoisseur will tell you, one of the best investments you can make is in a great set of knives that will last forever. Top notch brands like Henckel and Wusthof that typically sell as a set for $400-$700, will be on sale for anywhere from $80-$300.
All-Clad is known for some of the best quality stainless steal cookwear on the market. Their 13-piece set, which normally sells for $1,485 will go for $699 plus a free gift. It’s soup season…get it on!
The goal here is not to be a mouth piece for Bloomies, All-Clad or Kitchen-Aid, but simply to share what a little patience and cash-in-hand can do for you. This is not the only time of the year for great deals, but it is one of the best. Macy’s is also known for their incredible Semi-Annual White Sales, which happen Jan/Feb and July/August.
So play it smart, if people want to give you gifts, show them what you want and give them a way to contribute, but don’t commit to any particular store so you have the most flexibility.
Speaking of, did any of you see the articles from last weekend in The New York Times or The Globe and Mail about why we love giving gift cards but hate getting them? People want to give you something that “feels” like a gift and not like a wad of cash. Unfortunately it’s usually the retailers who win and not us because we end up with cards to stores we don’t want or we forget about them and lose the money all together. But it doesn’t have to be that way
In the spirit of the holidays, the thought counts but don’t be wasteful if you can help it. Keep your eye out for the best sales in your area or online and then nab the right deal on the perfect gem for you. Cheers!
