I often have people ask me about what the possibilities are for creating a unique wedding gift list. So many couples these days don’t need or want the basics and are looking for a more fun and practical way to register. When asked, I always advise our couples to take advantage of how fun it can be to create a DAG gift list together…no harsh department store lighting or scan guns to fight over. Just snuggle up on the couch one night with a bottle of wine and some chill music!
The goal is to not be afraid to infuse your registry with your story and personality. It’s something you can’t do with a traditional registry, so why not take advantage? You have the opportunity to create a narrative that suits you, as well as the ability to customize each gift item, which really lets guests get to know you better and helps them feel included in what you are planning…and thus more inclined to contribute! If you take just a smidge of time to make it more fun than picking out towels (not hard to do!), guaranteed it will return the favor.
One of my favorite registry ideas is to create a list of date nights for your first year of marriage! There is nothing better than the gift of time together to keep things interesting and romantic. The pics and stories can make for great thank you notes or follow-up throughout the year! Recently I was asked to guest post on this topic with our friends The Wedding Yentas.
What guest doesn’t want to be responsible for romantic new experiences that you’ll never forget?
NEED SOME INSPIRATION?
Hot Air Balloon Ride at Sunset
You’ve always dreamt of this, but can you actually make it happen? It’s definitely not your typical date, but why not! This is the time to experience things that are out of the ordinary. Who knows, a little bubbly (Prosecco’s my fav!) and a to-die-for sunset…you’ll see, more than the air is gonna get hot!
That’s just a teaser to wet your palette about all that you can do to create a newlywed activity registry!
