Assembling a Wedding Team? Listen to Your Planner

Planning a wedding is hard!  Luckily, planners are here to lessen the stress and bring all the aspects together smoothly.   It’s a common misconception that planners refer vendors only in exchange for compensation, but the truth is that great planners refer vendors because they believe in the quality and service they provide.  Your planner is here to help you, but for the best working relationship, here is some advice:

Planners base their recommendations on positive experiences, which they hope to bring to new clients. Occasionally, clients choose to book a vendor that is not recommended.  Though it is of course the couple’s ultimate choice that matters most, this can sometimes lead to mishaps that could be avoided:

  • Crooked cakes
  • Caterers that leave all the trash at the end of the night
  • Venues that open the buffet late
  • Florists that provide a different bouquet than promised
  • Photographers that rewrite the whole timeline
  • DJ’s that run in last minute and can’t remember the bride’s name

The goal of the wedding planner is to make the bride and groom as happy as possible – after all, it’s your Big Day!  We want to provide you with a day you remember for its happy memories and special moments, not mismatched flowers and caterer delays.  So here is my advice for anyone assembling a wedding team – Listen to your planner’s recommendations when it comes to vendors.  You can prevent a disaster a year before your wedding by hiring the right people.  If the preferred vendors are booked or too expensive, ask for alternatives — a good planner will work with you to find the perfect vendors with the goal of saving you heartache and money so that you’ll experience nothing but smooth sailing on your Big Day.
