Planning a Wedding on a Budget? Prioritize!
Date:June 27th, 2011 | Category:Fresh Ideas, Weddings | By Anna

The dress, the caterer, the venue…it all adds up!  If you need some help cutting costs in your wedding without spoiling the day you’ve been dreaming about, then read on!

Weddings are EXPENSIVE!  The average wedding now costs nearly $25,000.  If you want to celebrate your dream wedding without blowing your financial future, it’s important to think in a fiscally responsible way.  One of the best ways to do this is to prioritize.

You’ve already thought of the big things in a wedding – the dress, the tux, the invitations, the caterers, the music.  But what about all of those smaller costs you might have forgotten – the guest book, centerpieces, flower girl flowers, thank you notes…the list goes on with seemingly tiny unexpected costs that add up.

As you begin to plan your big day, sit down with your fiancé and discuss what really is important to you.  Consider what it is that makes your dream wedding your dream – what aspects of the wedding have you always fantasized about that would really make it perfect for you?  Maybe you’re one of the brides who has always pictured a gorgeous big white wedding gown.  In this case, splurge on the dress, but look to other ways to save money – hold your ceremony in the off-peak season, for example.  If food isn’t so important to you, do heavy appetizers and desserts.  But maybe you’re all about the food – in that case, try cutting your guest list to your closest friends and family so you can really indulge in a foodie fantasy!

It may seem impossible to cut anything from your dream wedding without turning it into a nightmare, but let’s not get dramatic…there are many costs to be cut that you won’t even notice are your missing — and your guests certainly won’t, unless you tel them!  Remember what truly is important – celebrating your union surrounded by the friends and family you love :)
