My husband and I found ourselves unexpectedly moving across the country during our wedding planning. When it came time to build our registry, a traditional registry did not make sense. Our lives were in limbo, literally pulled between two coasts. We had no idea what would fit in our new apartment, we had yet to decide what to keep/to toss from our old one, and we were clueless about what we would most need once we arrived. Above all, with our lives in flux, to what address were guests going to send tangible gifts? And where were we going to store them? We already had 30 boxes of our belongings en route to our new apartment!
We were overwhelmed. Then we found Deposit a Gift.
Admittedly, I held slight reservation about a non-traditional choice. Though the world is heading in a digital direction (we did digital invites), would all my guests appreciate it? We ran the idea by friends who quickly encouraged it. In the end, our guests totally got it. They even commented that it was fun to use and a smart idea.
On top of the product being successful for us, Dana is simply amazing. Days before our wedding, I did a cash out on the site. Unfortunately, I had bridal brain and entered my wire number instead of my account number. When I noticed the money hadn't come in, I contacted Dana who, despite it totally being my fault, was attentive and kind. She responded quickly to each of my emails, reached out by phone with a status update, and never once made me feel bad about botching the thing. She was determined to fix the mistake and did everything she could to make it happen quickly. You do not find this level of customer service everywhere. Deposit a Gift is above and beyond!
DAG was a great option for us for the following reasons:
1) It allowed the baby shower to be about celebrating the impending arrival of our son rather than about stuff.
2) It allowed people to still feel like they were getting us things we needed, while allowing us the flexibility to choose where to buy things (local stores, cheaper, online options, etc.).
3) It allowed us to buy things as we needed them at our own pace AND it allowed us to change our mind in case we did more research and found that we wanted a different brand or style of something.
We highly recommend going this route for your registry, as it seems to be the best of all registry/gifting worlds.
Jason and I aren't the traditional type of people and when I heard from a colleague about using an on-line registry site, I was all in. I thought that searching for the perfect site to help us out would be difficult, luckily I was very wrong. I found Deposit a Gift without any problems and the reviews and testimonials convinced me right away that this was the one. Since we were in the works of planning our wedding in the US Virgin Islands....the thought of getting money to use instead of a bunch of knick knacks was perfect. I like to think that I'm pretty computer savvy but halfway into the process I started having all sorts of questions come up. I was so impressed at the response to my questions, I had only emailed customer service an hour before Dana, the head hauncho, emailed me back and then offered to call me personally. She spent over an hour, on a couple of occasions, helping me fine tune and perfect my site so that it was ready. Besides the ease of the website, for my guests and my husband and I, Dana's one on one customer service ranks this website far over any other of its kind. And once we were ready to grab some of the cash and head to the islands, it was super simple and fast.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us find some solace among the chaos of wedding planning. I will continue to recommend this website to my friends and family. We're hoping to use the website and Dana's expertise again soon when we add another member to the family.
Sincerely,
Kandee K.
